However, it has been shown in the past that although pressure groups do not have legal authority, and are unofficial in nature, they can be very successful in bringing about law reform, provided that the issue they are campaigning for is one that has a widespread public interest. Most pressure groups will focus on one legal issue. But they always take full legal advice from specialist solicitors that cover the area they are campaigning about to ensure the reform they are looking for is lawful.
Pressure groups have been criticised in the past, as some people believe they are too powerful and do not represent a large section of society. Some people also believe that some pressure groups have a distinct advantage over others, as certain groups have greater access to funds and this means that reform is not always based on the strength of the cause, uggs prezzo, but on the monetary backing of that particular group.
In order for a pressure group to gain support and recognition, stivali ugg, they may hand out flyers and pamphlets and promote themselves in the media. Further, they may partake in interviews and even stage protests to gain media attention. The main aim is to gain public support, as the more public support a pressure group has, the more pressure they will be able to put on the government to reform the law. These groups also take legal advice from specialist solicitors about their activities.
As well as these official bodies, there are unofficial bodies. Pressure groups are groups or individuals who review the law and try to pressure the Government for law reform. For example, a pressure group can be an organisation which represents 150,000 businesses or a locally based organisation which represents less than 100 households campaigning to improve their local town. Specific examples include the National Consumer Council, which promotes consumers' interests, the Howard League for Penal Reform which campaigns for prisoners and the Legal Action Group, which campaigns to improve legal services for disadvantaged members of society. Solicitors will often be members of these groups.
There are specific law reform bodies, the primary one being the Law Commission, ugg shop, which issues a consultation paper on a particular area of law and invites comments. There are also temporary bodies such as the Royal Commissions and various Select Committees such as the home Affairs Select Committee. These organisations also canvas the opinion of solicitors when they are consulting about a potential change in the law.
